An Introduction to the
Alpha Course at Bethel
What is Alpha?
Alpha is a unique opportunity to explore the Christian Faith. Over a ten week journey, you and others can explore some of the challenging basics of Christianity in a safe and relaxed, non-threatening environment. There is no charge for the course. There is also a week-end retreat on the Person and Acts of the Holy Spirit.
Alpha is a ten week course for:
Anyone interested in finding out more about the Christian faith. Adults of all ages are welcome.
Learning and laughter: It is possible to learn more about the Christian faith, and have fun at the same time.
People meeting together: An opportunity to get to know others and to make new friends.
Helping one another: The small groups give you a chance to safely discuss issues raised during the talks.
Ask anything: Alpha is a setting where no question is seen as too simple or too hostile.
Who is Alpha for?
Alpha is for everyone! It’s especially geared to: People interested in investigating Christianity, Newcomers to the church, New Christians, Couples preparing for marriage, and Christians who just want to brush up on the basics of the faith. Non-churchgoers, those seeking fellowship, new Christians, and established Christians seeking a refresher course are all invited to attend this ten week experience. Everyone is invited, so bring a friend!
Learning & Laughter
At an Alpha course, you can learn about the Christian faith, and have fun at the same time. The course is based upon a series of fifteen talks on video that tackle the key questions at the heart of the Christian faith. It really is possible to learn about Christianity and enjoy the experience! Laughter and fun are a key part of the course which breaks down barriers and enables everyone to relax together.
Meeting and Eating
An opportunity to eat together gives people the chance to get to know each other and to develop Christian friendships. Everyone should come with an expectation of a relaxed, informative, and enjoyable evening with friends. Sharing a meal with someone is one of the best ways to meet new friends. A small donation will be accepted for the course meals.
Ask Anything
No tests! No right or wrong answers! The discussions at Alpha provide an opportunity for you to be heard about what you think and feel. During each small group session, everyone is given the opportunity to raise their questions and discuss relevant topics.

Also, child care will be provided for the weekly meetings at Bethel Lutheran Church. Please let us know ahead of time if you'll be needing childcare.
